150 Days

When Devin and I decided that we were going to get married and had set a date, I started something called "150 Days Until I Do." And I am so happy that I did. Each day I would write him a love letter or recount one of my favorite memories that the two of us had shared. Then on our wedding day I presented him with the collection of letters I had written. These letters have been more powerful than I anticipated. Each time we are feeling discouraged or frustrated we pull our the notebook of letters and read one. Every time it affirms our love, and completely turns things around. It is so valuable to us, and was such a sweet gift to us both. If you aren't married I encourage you to do this when you are engaged! It will mean the world to your spouse!

Four Months and I Still Like Him

Today is our four month anniversary and the title says it all, except it's more than like, I really love him. Devin is such a sweetheart and treats me like a queen. In our four months of marriage he has done so many cute surprises and made me the happiest girl. I keep waiting for the excitement to wear off, but waking up next to him every morning is the wonderful! I know that we made the right choice and that we'll always be together. Tonight to celebrate our anniversary of matrimony we are headed out for a yummy dinner and a surprise date. Woohoo! I love you Devin Bean!

Shoes, lets get some shoes.

Getting shoes is not as easy as Liam Sullivan's 2007 hit made it sound. This week I have been on a hunt for the perfect black sandals. I wanted something casual and not too flashy. Who knew this would be such a difficult task. I tried two malls, target, and online and I was coming up dry. Either they were out of stock, or expensive or just down right unattractive. I guess I was being a little bit picky, but I knew I was going to be wearing these A LOT. Do you guys have staple shoes that you just wear a ton? That is what I was looking for. I found some cute ones that happened to also be comfortable, they were black but had little gold button/ stud things on them (pretty sure that description was awful.) The only problem was I don't wear that much gold. If there were silver I would have totally bought them. Very discouraged hubs and I returned home. Here is the good part though...Today I came home from a long day of work and Devin said he had a surprise for me. He opened the door to the bed room and sitting on our bed were shoes that I liked...but wait something was different. The buttons weren't gold...they were silver. He had painted each individual button so I could have the shoes I wanted. I was completely  blown away by how sweet he had been. Don't you just love it when your hubby does EXACTLY the right thing?

The many faces of Devin

Devin finally looked at my blog and noticed that I had neglected posting the pictures of all of his strange faces...So this post is devoted to a few of his funny faces he's made.

This was the night that Devin proposed. Even with this crazy face I still said YES!

We took these pictures pretty early on in our relationship, my best friend was in a photography class and needed models. Devin definitely showed his character :)

I was teasing him about how he always has his eyes closed in pictures, so he made sure they were WIDE open.

Oh he is so tough.

I think this maybe my favorite. I love that he makes me laugh. As cheesy as this sounds he is my perfect  guy and his funny faces are one of the many reasons I fell in love with him! (PS it was halloween hence my weird orange pumpkin smock.)

Thanks for visiting!

What a wonderful week it has Bean...

The title says it all. I'm just happy this week. Last night we made a trip up to Draper to visit my sweet Grandma Sue. She is a Heavenly woman, and deserves a post devoted to her but I'll save that for when I have more time. Last night she made us an amazing dinner and then whooped us in a game of Five Crowns. Right after we got married we had a two week period where we didn't have a place to stay (sometimes closing on a house takes longer than you expected!) and we crashed at her place. While we were there we got hooked on this game. So last night we played again for hours! My Aunt Shelly and my cousin Matias just moved in with Grandma so we had a blast with them as well. I don't think I've ever seen my Grandma laugh so hard, it was a crazy mixture of laughing, crying, and an asthma attack but it sure was funny! Also, to top off a perfect week tomorrow we are heading up to the Zermatt Resort with my parents. It is a beautiful place tucked away in Midway. Devin and I are so excited! There will be lots of yummy food, pampering and the company of my favorite people. What could be better?? Anyways that is my rant about how happy I am today, and here are some pictures of the beautiful resort we'll be staying at this weekend. YAY!

Change of Plans...

Initially, I thought this blog would be about cooking (by initially I mean last week...oh being so indecisive.) but, I realized there are other cool things that are happening in my life so I should make it an all inclusive type blog. Anyways last week we definitely had a change of plans. Unfortunately, Devin's Grandpa Pete passed away. Immediately we all came together as a family and made plans to attend this funeral is Arizona. I was never priviledged to meet Grandpa Pete, but from all the stories I heard last weekend he sounded like an amazing man. We made the best of the trip and spent some enjoyable time with Devin's relatives. It was my first trip to Arizona and my is it hot there! I guess I've been spoiled with the cooler Utah weather! In the end we made it home after about 30 hours of driving...I sat next to Devin the whole time and I'm not even sick of him yet! That must be love :)

P.S. I just found a super cute printable on pinterest...plus I found a deal for a free 8x10 today only at Rite-aid. Oh how I love free things. I'll post the link when I get home :)

The introduction.

I feel an introduction is at hand. I guess I assumed that other bloggers were already familiar with my life but it many cases this is not so. Therefore here comes a brief introduction of me and my hubby!

This is my handsome man Devin. He always surprises me with fun things like birthday scavenger hunts, or unloading the dishwasher (which at times seems like the greatest luxury in the world). He works full time and studies Business Management at UVU. He is a major goof ball, which is one of the reasons why I fell in love with him. Devin has the best heart and makes me feel like the luckiest girl in the world!

I am McKinzie. I am a die hard country music fan and I have a crazy obsession with Reba McEntire. My favorite color is purple.  I grew up in Park City and moved to Happy Valley to study at UVU.  I just changed my major to Finance and am excited to learn about money and hopefully gain a few tips on making it work with a newlywed budget!

This sums us up. Two goofy Beans :)
